Bandit Industries Inc., Remus, Mich., has introduced its latest addition, the 15-inch diameter capacity Model 1490XP drum chipper. Bandit developed this unit after the12-inch diameter Model 1090XP drum chipper, which was introduced in November 2007. Both units are designed to provide easy towing and maneuvering, and an oversized drum provides for smooth, efficient chipping. A larger diameter drum allows the material to be chipped on the bottom half of the drum and on an angle with the grain of the wood, reducing vibration and fuel consumption. The 1490XP features a 17- to-¾-inch-by-19.5-inch high chipper opening to accommodate material up to 15 inches in diameter. The engine can run up to 142 horsepower. All Bandit drum chippers feature the patented Power Slot system, which allows for greater chip velocity and eliminates plugging.
