Yard Works acquires Waltrip Recycling

Central Virginia landscape products manufacturer and recycler grows retail operations in Williamsburg.

Yard Works, Moseley, Virginia, has announced its acquisition of Williamsburg, Virginia-based Waltrip Recycling Inc.’s assets. This marks the landscape product company’s sixth retail location, expanding its presence in the greater Williamsburg area.

Yard Works says it will begin servicing former Waltrip residential and commercial clients immediately by bringing its brands of mulch and other land improvement products and services to the market. Yard Works says it is one of central Virginia’s leading manufacturers of premier landscape products, providing recycling and land clearing services.

“Larry Waltrip was a pioneer in the landscaping products and recycling industry and has been semiretired but now is looking forward to full retirement and spending more time fishing,” says Robbie Urbine, chief operating officer of Yard Works. “Yard Works is looking forward to continuing his vision of customer service and quality products that he started delivering in 1991.”

Urbine continues, “Yard Works is very excited about expanding our operations into Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. The acquisition of Waltrip Recycling allows us to serve thousands of new residential and commercial customers in the Historic Triangle and give them the opportunity to experience the Yard Works difference and get access to premium land improvement products and recycling services.”

Yark Works operates three recycling centers in Virginia, one each in Moseley, Dillwyn and Shacklefords. The company’s recycling facilities handle wood-related items, such as stumps, brush, logs, pallets, leaves and grass clippings, fill dirt and soil disposal. Yard Works grinds this material and reuses it as decorative mulch, soil conditioners and ecofriendly bioretention soils.

Waltrip Recycling offers products for use in landscaping, playground construction and gardening, for commercial and residential applications. The company manufactures and applies a variety of wood mulched products, including crushed concrete and its Waltrip Express Mulch Blower.

Yard Works currently serves the cities of Richmond and Charlottesville, and has retail operations in Powhatan, Goochland, Chesterfield, Henrico and Hanover counties in Virginia. To bolster operations at the Williamsburg retail location, Yard Works says it will be adding new staff, services and products.
