Wieland, with headquarters in Ulm, Germany, has acquired Farmers Copper Ltd., a copper, brass and bronze alloys supplier founded in 1980 with two operating sites in Texas City, Texas, and San Antonio. The transaction closed July 10.
Farmers Copper has what Wieland describes as a strong and long-standing customer base in the aerospace, marine, defense, oil and gas and electrical market segments. Wieland says the firm distinguishes itself with its service, custom processing capabilities and delivery performance.
Farmers Copper, which is based in Texas City, says it is ISO 9001:2015- and AS9100D-certified copper metal supplier that stocks more than 30 copper alloys and maintains a diverse inventory of other metals.
Wieland says the company will be integrated into the service center network of the Wieland Metal Services business unit.
“Our goal is to continuously deliver unparalleled value to our customers,” says Greg Keown, president of Wieland Metal Services. “We are excited about the opportunities presented by this strategic union and look forward to welcoming their talented and highly skilled team into our organization as well as being able to offer our combined customer base additional enhanced products and services.”
Erwin Mayr, CEO of the Wieland Group, says, “With the acquisition of Farmers Copper Ltd. we further strengthen Wieland’s large footprint and broad market participation in North America. Our growing customer base will benefit from an enlarged portfolio of high-end product solutions and excellent service offerings.”
