Werk-Brau has introduced the FHX66 Defender Forestry Mulcher, a “robust" mulcher for standard flow skid steers and track loaders.
Werk-Brau says the mulching attachment can eradicate materials up to 10 inches in diameter across a working width of 54 inches. A 78-inch width model also is available.
The Findlay, Ohio-based firm says the 12¾-inch diameter cutting drum of the with FHX66 uses just 17 gallons per minute of hydraulic flow at 3,350 pounds per square inch (psi) of pressure.
For its cutting power, the FHX66 deploys Quadco Quad Tooth cutter knives Werk-Brau describes as “one-piece, easy to change two-inch knives” that are constructed of alloy steel and are rotatable with four positions or cutting edges.
The company says an abrasion-resistant liner ensures wear resistance and strength.
Mechanically, Werk-Brau says the mulcher is equipped with a high-strength, cogged carbon chain timing belt designed to increase efficiency, power and torque.
“An electronically balanced cutter drum with serviceable hubs ensures straight shafts that run smooth for years of reliable, vibration-free operation,” the equipment maker says.
Werk-Brau lists property maintenance, right-of-way clearing and creating and maintaining defensible spaces in wildfire zones as potential applications.
The company has partnered with California-based Valley Tool Manufacturing to help it provide Werk-Brau branded BrushHound mulchers, brush shredders and flail mowers, and RockHound landscape rakes now available through Werk-Brau’s nationwide dealer network.
“Each FHX series mulcher is manufactured by Valley Tool but serviced through the Werk-Brau network, providing single-source convenience for customers,” Werk-Brau says.
Werk-Brau, founded in 1947, manufactures an American-made line of OEM and replacement attachments for excavators, mini-excavators, backhoe loaders, mini- and full-size loaders, crawler loaders and skid steers.
