Total Wrecking & Environmental, a Buffalo, New York-based demolition and environmental remediation company, has been shortlisted for the 2024 World Demolition Awards in the Contract of the Year Over $1 Million category. The recognition comes from the company’s ongoing work at the CD McIntosh Power Station in Lakeland, Florida, where Total Wrecking is executing the demolition of Units 1, 2 and 3.
The CD McIntosh Power Station project, which Total Wrecking describes as “challenging and complex," was commissioned by Lakeland Electric and required the demolition firm to safely abate and demolish multiple units of the power station, including stacks, boilers, cooling towers, coal conveyors and more while maintaining operations at the active facility. According to Total Wrecking, the team faced unique challenges, such as working in proximity to live overhead transmission lines and a sensitive ecosystem that includes wetlands, lakes and the Tenoroc Public Nature Preserve.
“This project showcases our dedication to executing large-scale demolition projects safely, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact,” Total Wrecking & Environmental President Frank Bodami says. “We are incredibly proud to be recognized on the international stage and remain focused on delivering outstanding results for our clients.”
