Sennebogen takes on tough high-reach task

Demolition project in Germany uses Sennebogen 825 E material handler for work that was heavy duty and involved high-reach aspects.

A 825 E model material handler from Germany-based material handling equipment maker Sennebogen has been used to undertake an indoor industrial dismantling project by a Germany-based demolition firm.

According to Sennebogen, Max Wild Gmbh recently was tasked with the removal of thick steel beams and obsolete industrial inside an industrial building that was being converted into a “new, innovative megacasting plant.”

Critical to carrying out the project, Sennebogen says, was an 825 E model its demolition excavator. “With its long reach and maneuverability the 825 E enabled precise separation and presorting of components, even at great heights," the company says.

The location was dark and cramped, so Sennebogen says the work had to be done high up yet under roof inside the 19,900-square-foot building.

Thick steel beams supported the obsolete industrial equipment that was to be replaced in the new megacasting plant. Megacasting is a manufacturing process in which multiple components are combined into a single die-cast part.

“The 825 demolition excavator with its long reach is exactly the right machine in the right place,” Sennebogen says of its role in the dismantling job.

The equipment maker cites the 825’s maneuverability provided by its crawler undercarriage as one critical factor. Equipped with demolition attachments, disused machinery components were cut through and pre-sorted for recycling.

The long boom of the Sennebogen machine allowed sizable sections of the old plant to be reached on the second level of the facility and then lifted and cut up for processing.

Steel beams also had to be moved out of the facility, which meant the machine used had to be able to lift and move heavy loads—another specification met by the 825 E, according to the manufacturer, which operates in North America from Stanley, North Carolina.

"The machine is really easy to operate," a Max Wild machine operator says. "It responds to the finest impulses. The Sennebogen is particularly easy to work with at height. With the cab, which can be raised and also tilted, the operator always has a clear view of the working tool and the surroundings.”
