Nexwaste LLC, an Austin, Texas-based company headed by industry veteran Walter Biel, has purchased three Austin-area waste-related businesses as part of its efforts to build out a regional waste collection infrastructure.
Nexwaste acquired Recon Services, a longtime Austin roll-off and construction material waste hauler and recycler; Rockin’ Disposal, a construction material waste hauling company; and Mobile Magic, which had a construction material waste transfer station. Terms of the agreement were not released.
Recon, operated by the Biel family, has provided waste services to the Austin market for more than 20 years. Bearing out the Nexwaste company motto of “Run By Operators,” Walter Biel will remain with Nexwaste as CEO.

To maintain continuity, Nexwaste says it will keep most of the personnel at all the companies, with Nexwaste executives working with staff members to provide expertise to help improve profitability.
“We feel that because of this area’s continued strong growth, we want to focus on working with companies here,” Biel says. “We are especially interested in working with those owners who are local leaders in their market and want to either stay on to further the operation or don’t want to see their company acquired and dismantled by a large corporation.”
These acquisitions are part of a recent string of purchases by NexWaste, the executives of which all all longtime veterans of the waste industry. The company’s growth plan includes organic growth as well as acquisition, particularly in the “Texas triangle” of Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.
