The Washington-based National Demolition Association (NDA) has launched a new in-person course called “Demolition Methods, Planning and Design” that it will debut in Washington in early June.
The course has been designed to focus on the engineering concepts behind the demolition means and methods in a fun and interactive way by using digital and physical models and field examples, according to the group, which says the full-day course can be helpful to professionals across the demolition industry, including owners, engineers, inspectors, estimators, superintendents, foremen and laborers/burners.
Among topics to be addressed will prestressed structures, cantilevered and hung structures. Regarding the principles of steel and concrete structural members, the loading and potential failure, both deliberate and unintended, will be examined.
The course will be led by what the NDA calls “seasoned engineers with practical demolition experience in addition to experienced demolition professionals.”
Demolition Methods, Planning and Design has been scheduled June 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Washington office of Smithbucklin, the association services firm that manages NDA.
More information about the course, including pricing and how to register, can be found on the NDA website.
