Demolition and aggregates processing attachment company Montabert USA hosted two demo days events in Hatfield, Pennsylvania, and South Plainfield, New Jersey, in early October.
The Illinois-based affiliate of France-based manufacturer Montabert displayed a Montabert hammer and grapple as well as quick couplers and a tilt bucket made by Germany-based Lehnhoff.
During the two days, 25 construction, demolition, and excavating contractors joined factory representatives and dealers to view the Montabert and Lehnhoff attachment and coupler demonstrations.
The Silent Demolition grapple Montabert displayed is available in three models designed for demolition, sorting, loading, light excavation and stone-setting applications.
The grapples feature 360-degree rotation and are designed for carriers of 5 tons up to 100 tons and “provide ease of operation and overload protection for increased safety,” according to the firm.
The V46 hydraulic hammer on display has a 15-speed hammer with automatic variable-speed technology “that senses changes in material hardness and adjusts impact energy and striking rate.”
The company says its heavy breakers are designed for all types of carriers, from 18 tons to 120 tons, and are suitable for several applications, including demolition, quarrying, mining and excavation.
The Lehnhoff Tilt Bucket carried by Montabert USA has been designed for versatile site work by using the bucket in digging mode or shovel mode, the company says.
The Lehnhoff bucket features two hydraulic cylinders with piston-rod protection and a pressure-retention valve. The tilt bucket is ideal for medium to heavy excavation and material backfilling, according to Montabert USA.
The firm also says the fully automatic, symmetric Lehnhoff Quick Coupler system allows operators to quickly and automatically change all hydraulic attachments without leaving the cab, increasing efficiency and safety.
“The advantages provided by the coupler include potential savings in additional excavator and operator costs, increased productivity with less time spent on manual attachment changes, and reduced safety risks for the operator by not unhooking hydraulic hoses with each attachment change," Montabert USA says.
According to Montabert, Steve Scott of Scott Contractors in Norristown, Pennsylvania, said he was impressed with the value the Lehnhoff coupler can provide in lowering overall operating costs by eliminating the need for two excavators on job sites to handle different tasks. “The Lehnhoff [coupler] seems to be a no-brainer,” he said.
“We already have multiple requests for pricing and more information following the demonstration,” Montabert sales engineer Michelle Wilson says regarding the quick coupler. “There seems to be quite a bit of interest in the coupler system in particular.”
Montabert designs, produces and distributes of hydraulic and pneumatic demolition and drilling equipment, including breakers and drifters.
