Finland-based crushing and screening equipment maker Metso Corp. says its HRC crusher product line can help companies and their companies who are adopting a circular economy approach by prioritizing the use of sustainable raw materials.
“The production of industrial sand and the separation of usable construction materials for cement and concrete production present significant business opportunities while addressing the rising demand for sustainable practices,” says the firm.
Metso says the high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) of its HRC 8 model crusher supports sustainable operations while also offering process flexibility and higher capacity and low energy and wear part consumption.
“The construction industry is moving toward [a] circular economy, and urbanization is expected to drive demand for raw materials to meet the growing global needs,” says Oldemar Meneses, a product manager at Metso.
“Metso’s HRC 8 offers a proven solution for aggregate producers and contractors, delivering high-quality output with excellent gradation and particle shape,” adds Meneses. “It fully meets the specifications for recycled concrete and cement applications. With over 160 units currently sold worldwide, the HRC 8 has received consistently positive feedback from customers, supporting sustainable and efficient production.”
The equipment maker describes the HRC line as being able to “work in applications where other crushers cannot.” Adds the firm, “They can handle small in size and very difficult feed materials that are difficult to process by any other technology, [such as those] with high abrasiveness, low crushability, moisture, fines, even clay, and turn them into a valuable product.”
The company says there are a declining number of sand extraction sites in Europe and permitting for new ones is difficult, creating what it calls a challenging supply situation. In both Europe and North America, “Transporting sand from distant locations is often not economically viable,” adds the company.
Potentially helpful on that front is the availability of the Metso HRC 8 as a component in a Nordplant pre-designed crushing system. “As a portable model on Nordwheeler, the crusher provides flexibility for relocation based on material location,” states the company.
Metso says the HRC 8 crusher generates low volumes of dust emissions and noise, adding to its usefulness in urban and recycling applications. The company says it can convert residual quarry materials as well as recyclable concrete “into high-quality, high-value sellable products. “

The 1200-CC, Enhanced With New Features
Eagle Crusher’s most popular plant is enhanced with new features to make setup, operation, and transport a breeze. New features include a redesigned return conveyor; a new fully hydraulic side discharge conveyor, a self-lowering control panel, and an available onboard cross-belt permanent magnet that stays on for transport.
The firm says the HRC 8 can separate cement binder material from those streams while also producing marketable sand and secondary aggregates.
Metso says it is displaying its HRC 8 crusher at the BAUMA 2025 international construction machinery trade fair this April 7-13, in Munich.
