Liebherr USA Co., Newport News, Virginia, is returning as the official sponsor of the Live DEMOlition event at this year’s annual National Demolition Association convention, which takes place Feb. 22-25 in Austin, Texas. Liebherr will feature four machines at the event: the R 946 LC and R 936 LC crawler excavators, the LH 22 M mobile material handler and the L 556 XPower wheel loader.
Registered participants of the Live DEMOlition event Feb. 23 will have the opportunity to get hands-on and operate the R 946, the R 936 Compact and the LH 22, according to a Liebherr news release. The event will take place off-site at Texas Disposal Systems in Austin. Attendees will also have a chance to view the L 556 XPower wheel loader at the convention center starting at 6:30 p.m. that same day.
According to Liebherr, the R 946 is easy to transition from second member to third member demolition tools hydraulically. To reduce the risk of failure in heavy demolition applications, the machine is designed to feature casting in all high-stress areas.
The R 936 Compact Litronic weighs 76,000 pounds and is designed for working in small spaces. With a tight swing radius, the company says the machine is ideal for urban and bridge demolition applications that require precision. The R 936 can also be outfitted with demolition guarding that protects the machine superstructure and cylinders.
The LH 22 M’s compact design makes it well-suited for deployment on demolition sites, according to Liebherr. With a reach of 36 feet, the machine has a variety of optional attachments that are designed to complement its power and performance in each application.
Equipped with the XPower driveline, the L 556 XPower wheel loader delivers quick working cycles, high tipping loads and high machine uptime, the company says. When paired with Liebherr-Power-Efficiency, the XPower driveline achieves up to a 30 percent reduction in fuel consumption. The driveline brakes automatically and the service brake acts only as a support and is subject to minimal wear.
