The Wirtgen Group, a Germany-based brand of John Deere & Co., says its Kleemann brand continuously develops noise and dust-protection concepts to offer with its concrete crushing equipment to protect workers and the environment.

Kleemann says excessive noise and dust emissions can result in damage to health, prompting it to offer what it calls a special conveyor belt cover and a water spraying concept.

The firm’s EVO2 generation models can be supplied with water pump systems that can be connected to the “intelligently positioned water spraying system,” says Kleemann. Because of the pump, nearby ponds, lakes or water tanks can be used.

The tarpaulin conveyor belt cover, meanwhile, can prevent fine dust particles from being blown off a conveyor. “The result is a clear reduction in dust emissions,” states Kleemann.

On the noise front, Kleemann says its EVO2 models, such as the Mobicat MC 110(i) EVO2 crusher,  operate at sound power levels up to 6.2 decibels lower than predecessor models. “The perceived noise is thus 75 percent lower,” says the firm, calling it a “clear improvement not only for users but also for [nearby] residents.”

Standard versions of the EVO2 generation machines operate at 87 or 88 decibels, says Kleemann. Optional noise protection packages reduce the sound power level of the complete plant by another three decibels, thus cutting in half the perceived noise level, according to the company.

“With the additional noise-protection package, the Mobicat MC 110(i) EVO2 plant can be operated without noise-damping headsets, depending on the ambient conditions and local regulations, says Kleemann.
