Thomas A. Robinette, former National Demolition Association (NDA) president, died on July 20.
Robinette was a beloved friend and mentor to many in the industry. He served as president of the NDA and was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
Robinette, born to Clayburn and Rose Robinette, completed high school and wed Cheryl, his wife of more than 55 years. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a SeaBee in the US Navy. Robinette was an extremely dedicated businessman and a co-founder/owner and president of Robinette Demolition for 48 years.
Robinette was a dedicated NDA member, serving on multiple committees and chairing the Member Services Committee. As chair, he spearheaded the creation of the renowned "Robinette Box," a welcome package for new members filled with informative videos, whitepapers and promotional materials including a complete Demolition Safety Program. Robinette was instrumental in developing the NDA Safety Manual and ultimately served as the association’s president from 1999 to 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Gregoire) and their two children, Michelle and T.J; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Rebecca (Christian), Isaac, Tyler, and Terrance Jr.; in addition to three great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Bella, and Chase and his sister, Clyda Robinette.
