Woodridge, Illinois-based Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems has announced its lightest-weight rear air suspension, Roadmaax Z. The heavy-duty drive axle air suspension system is designed to provide a consistent ride over the life of the air spring.
With a 46,000-pound capacity, Roadmaax Z is approved for use with lift axles and up to 25 percent off-highway operation. The drive axle suspension provides excellent on- and off-highway performance, ride quality and cargo protection for demanding applications, the company says.
With the introduction of Roadmaax Z, Hendrickson offers its patented Zero Maintenance Damping (ZMD) ride technology for the first time for trucks and tractors. Hendrickson designed Roadmaax Z as a top-mount, trailing arm air suspension with integrated ZMD technology to provide a smooth ride. ZMD ride technology eliminates conventional shock absorbers and integrates the damping function to the air springs, helping to reduce downtime and maintenance costs over the life of the vehicle. Unlike shock absorbers whose damping capacities are finite and typically deteriorate with age, ZMD air springs are designed to provide continuous damping over the life of the air spring.
“Hendrickson has a long history of supplying state-of-the-art suspension products to the heavy-duty transportation industry, and Roadmaax Z delivers the light weight and stability that drivers and fleets demand for tough applications,” says Sean Whitfield, director of marketing at Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems. “Innovative solutions like Roadmaax Z with Hendrickson’s exclusive patented ZMD technology deliver not only the critical weight savings, but also provide excellent ride and handling for both on- and off-highway applications.
Roadmaax Z offers a full range of suspension scalability with rated capacities of 23,000 pounds, 46,000 pounds and 69,000 pounds. The rear air suspension will be displayed at the NTEA trade show starting March 6.
