Hendrickson, a Woodridge, Illinois-based global manufacturer of suspension systems and components for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, has partnered with International Trucks, Lisle, Illinois, to launch a new variant of the Primaax Ex, a severe-duty vocational rear air suspension system.
This new variant of the Primaax Ex suspension has been designed specifically for the rigorous demands of vocational and severe-service such as construction, refuse, mixer, logging and heavy-haul applications. The new 12-inch ride height system variant contributes to better weight distribution, further improving stability and control when hauling heavy loads, according to Hendrickson.

New options for the suspension include 12-inch ride height as well as 52,000-pound capacity with air disc brake clearance as a part of the chassis enhancements for International’s HV truck model. Primaax Ex offers a full range of suspension scalability, from 23,000-pound single axle configurations up to 78,000-pound tridem setup configurations, according to the company.
Key features include:
- minimized suspension-induced driveline vibration;
- premium heavy-duty rubber bushings that require no lubrication;
- a taller ride height option to assist fleets in complying with applicable vehicle dimension regulations and applications that require a slightly taller than standard ride height, such as heavy-duty towing and recovery; and
- a 52,000-pound air disc brake configuration to allow for heavy-haul customers to specify air disc brakes on their HV trucks that require more repeatable stopping distance.
“Primaax Ex has grown tremendously in popularity over the years and has become widely accepted by fleets throughout the industry as their preferred 100-percent off-highway-approved vocational air suspension for multiple severe-duty applications,” says Sean Whitfield, director of marketing at Hendrickson Truck Commercial Vehicle Systems. “We are excited to launch the new 12-inch ride height as well as the 52,000-pound air disc brake compatible variants offered at International to expand the availability of Primaax Ex across the full breadth of their vocational model lineup to bring the tremendous advantages of Primaax Ex to more International customers."
