The Good Plastic Co., a Netherlands-based recycled-content plastic products maker with a United States office in New York, says it has collaborated with the global design firm Gensler on a new line of its Polygood building products.

Good Plastic says the new Growth line of its Polygood recycled-content polystyrene (PS) panels “reimagines traditional surface materials—marble, terrazzo and beyond—and supports a circular approach to product design.”

“We are delighted to collaborate with The Good Plastic Co. on this new collection of Polygood patterns for horizontal application,” says Scott Star, director of product development at San Francisco-based Gensler. “The circular nature of the material is well aligned with our sustainability objectives, and the patterns provide a welcome alternative for commercial countertops, vanities and furniture.”

Good Plastic says Gensler has a product design consultant for the Growth line and says the product series “transforms waste into beauty, blending design innovation with environmental impact.”

The company describes Polygood products as “composed of postconsumer and post-industrial plastic [scrap] and enhanced with accents from discarded refrigerators, washing machine enclosures, industrial spools and consumer electronics”

“Collaborating with global design leader Gensler is a defining moment for the company,” says Dr. William Chizhovsky, founder and CEO of Good Plastics. “The name ‘Growth’ not only symbolizes the collection’s inspiration from nature but also marks a new chapter for The Good Plastic Co. as we pioneer a new category of recycled surface materials.”

“The series celebrates the natural world, creating an immersive, tactile experience that is beautiful, versatile and adaptable across many design styles and project types,” says Mark Morton, design director at Gensler.

According to Good Plastic, the new collection is available immediately for commercial project specifications globally through its network of sales representatives and distributors.
