The 2024 edition of the annual C&D World, hosted by the Chicago-based Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA), will include considerable attention directed toward the sorting and processing of mixed construction and demolition (C&D) materials.
The conference, which will take place Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 at the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida, concludes with a tour of a Naples, Florida, C&D recycling plant operated by Fort Myers, Florida-based Southwest Waste.
Before that tour begins Friday, Feb. 2, a half-hour recycling plant case study session will take place featuring Sean Brewer, general manager at Southwest Waste Recycling and Transfer who helps oversee the Naples plant. Moderating that session will be recently appointed CDRA Executive Director and CEO Terri Ward.
On Feb. 1, a C&D World operations panel will gather thoughts from four mixed C&D recycling company executives who will consider the state of mixed C&D operations in 2024.
Moderating that session is Troy Lautenbach, a longtime CDRA officer and board member and the president of Lautenbach Recycling, which recycles C&D materials in the state of Washington.
Serving as panelists at the session are: David DeVito, vice president of operations at New Hampshire-based ReSource Waste Services; Andrea C. Johnson, CEO of Troy, Virginia-based Van der Linde Recycling; and Allen Burns, president of Philadelphia-based Richard S. Burns & Co.
Another session will provide information on fires and fire prevention at C&D facilities. Offering insight at that session will be: moderator Scott Denbo, CEO of Commercial Insurance Associates LLC; Randy Bullock of General Protection Consultants, Birmingham, Alabama; Scott Ledford, the owner of Atlanta-based Metrosite, Inc.; and Gary Marsh, safety manager at Lautenbach Recycling in Washington state.
Other sessions at the three-day conference will examine financial and wider management issues in the C&D sector. More information on C&D World 2024, including how to register, can be found here.
