Irving, Texas-based Commercial Metals Co. says it has acquired Suwanee, Georgia-based Tendon Systems LLC, which it describes as a provider of post-tensioning, barrier cable and concrete restoration systems. Tendon had revenue of approximately $60 million in 2022, according to CMC.
CMC says Tendon Solutions operates primarily in the Southeastern United States, and its products and services “are used in a variety of construction types, including multi-family residential, parking structures, industrial and high-rise buildings.”
According to steelmaking and scrap recycling firm CMC, Tendon Systems’ “primary offering, post-tension cable, is used in conjunction with rebar in most applications, providing meaningful commercial synergy opportunities to CMC.”
On its website, Tendon Systems describes itself as “one of the top concrete contractors and construction companies for more than 30 years.” It lists concrete restoration as one of its services, adding that it is “highly skilled and understand[s] how to implement best practice work for concrete construction and concrete repair.”
“This acquisition further advances our leadership position in construction reinforcement, complements our existing position in post-tensioning cable, and provides CMC with additional capabilities to serve our customers,” says Barbara R. Smith, board chair, president and CEO of CMC. “Tendon adds valuable expertise, innovative products and a trusted reputation to the CMC portfolio.”
It’s the second announced acquisition of 2023 for CMC. Earlier this month, the company announced its acquisition of Tennessee-based scrap recycling firm Roane Metals Group LLC.
