United Kingdom-based CDE has used the Hillhead trade fair in that nation to unveil a new generation of filter press designed to meet the needs of the waste recycling, quarrying and mining sectors.
CDE, which designs and makes wet processing systems for the sand, aggregate, minerals and construction and demolition materials sectors, says its new ProPress filter press can be added to its existing water management and recycling systems.
"[The ProPress] integrates the latest technological advancements to deliver exceptional operational efficiency and maximum water recovery,” says the company, which has a United States business unit based in Texas.
CDE says the ProPress features patent-pending technology that includes a flexible design and variable throughput that can be scaled to fit the processing volume of any operation. Its dual feed system means sludge or residue byproducts from washing lines can be fed from both sides of the ProPress for faster cycle times.
“Optimized sludge feed pressure also allows for faster dewatering to increase overall throughput,” CDE says.
As materials are washed and graded in CDE systems, the water from that process accumulates silt and other residues to form a sludge.
When that sludge is pumped under high pressure through the ProPress, solid materials build within the chambers to form a filter cake that is dewatered to maximize water recycling and recover a byproduct with multiple applications, including for pipe bedding and landfill cover.
"Owners and operators can recycle up to 95 percent of process water for immediate reuse in their wash plant,” CDE says of the ProPress.
The device also helps reduce waste disposal fees by recovering recovering the filter cake and can help eliminate the need for on-site settling ponds that typically require extensive maintenance, consume labor resources and incur significant costs, according to the company.
“We’ve poured over 30 years of engineering excellence into the development of the ProPress,” CDE Business Development Director Darren Eastwood says. “We’ve listened to and worked alongside our customers around the globe to design a solution that is adaptable to their needs, be they in the waste recycling or natural minerals processing sectors.”
Eastwood says initial customer response is positive.
“By the end of the year, the ProPress will be found on eight plants across three regions, processing around 1,000 tons per hour of material," he says.
He calls the ProPress “our most significant product launch in recent years,” adding that it encapsulates CDE’s purpose "to create our best world, a ton at a time."
"It represents a constant push for improvement to make our equipment, our customers’ operations, and the sectors we operate in more efficient and less wasteful," Eastwood adds.
The ProPress is available globally in a range of different sizes to suit varying markets and applications. The company says the machine can arrive largely pre-assembled to expedite commissioning, allowing operators to get up and running quickly to help achieve fast return on investment.
