United Kingdom-based CDE Group, a global supplier of sand and aggregate washing systems with a United States office in Texas, says it will host an open house event in mid-May to display a system created for Freehaven Materials in Brookhaven, New York, on Long Island.

“As it is anticipated that demand for aggregates will continue rising across the U.S., Freehaven Materials wanted a solution that would turn waste into reusable materials, and realized that by venturing into wet washing, they could gain this advantage and generate additional revenue,” states CDE.

The technology vendor says it partnered with Freehaven Materials to deliver a 150 tons per hour excavated materials recycling system that can help meet market demands and support the local construction and paving industries.

Commissioned last year, the plant allows Freehaven Materials to convert inbound mixed soil, sand and aggregate materials into five sand and aggregate products that CDE describes as being used in infrastructure and construction projects for highways, bridges and roads throughout Long Island.

“We’re looking forward to showcasing our innovative technologies at this open house event,” says Joseph Teahl, a U.S.-based business development manager with CDE. “At this event, we will highlight the innovation behind this waste recycling plant and see how we've enabled Freehaven Materials to turn today’s ‘waste’ into tomorrow’s resources.”

Continues Teahl, “Plants like this play a crucial role in addressing global sand and aggregate shortages by reducing landfill waste, conserving natural resources and contributing to a circular economy, and we’re proud to be supporting Freehaven Materials with this sustainable solution.”

Comments Tom Hayes, a managing partner at Freehaven Materials, “We recognized the challenges of procuring raw materials and saw an opportunity to capitalize on in the marketplace, and given CDE’s reputation as a market leader, we knew this was the right investment for us.”

Adds Hayes, “Through the whole process, CDE provided us with a comprehensive consulting approach from engineering experts [that] in turn gave us the confidence we needed to get this plant up and running. We’re really proud of this plant, and look forward to showcasing it at the open house event.”

At the May open house, guests will have the opportunity to meet with both the CDE and Freehaven staff members, learn more about soil and aggregates recycling systems, and take a detailed tour of the plant led by people involved in the project who can discuss how the technology can be applied to different operations.

The open house has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Eastern Time.  More information, including how to register, can be found on the CDE website.
