BTR has announced new leadership in refuse sales.
Pete Hendrickson has been promoted to vice president of refuse sales for the company and is responsible for all rental and off-rent truck sales revenue for the refuse business throughout North America for BTR and will report to BTR Chief Sales Officer Eric Voss.
Newly promoted Senior Director of Refuse Sales Scott Smith will report to Hendrickson.
“Since joining BTR in 2019, Pete has had a positive impact on the BTR strategy and execution for our off-rent truck sales business,” Voss says. “His ability to parachute into the industry and quickly navigate the industry landscape, articulate the value proposition and build a long-term strategy for scale has been impressive. He has transformed our Route Ready business and the industry’s viewpoint towards buying off-rent vehicles.”
BTR is a North American leader in essential services specialty equipment rentals, all backed by a nationally serviced and supported fleet.
“From customers to vendor partners, this industry has welcomed me with open arms, and there’s a long list of individuals I’d like to thank for making that possible,” Hendrickson says. “We have an amazing team at BTR, and I’m excited to play a role in our continued growth.”
Smith is responsible for the execution of rental and off-rent truck sales for all BTR North American regions for the company’s refuse business.
“We’re really excited for what Scott is going to do in this role,” Hendrickson says. “He has tremendous industry experience, having spent 10 years at Otto [Environmental Systems, Charlotte, North Carolina] as the east region sales director before coming to BTR in 2018. In his time at BTR, he has been focused specifically on growing our municipal business and has had tremendous success in shaping the way municipalities view vocational truck rental with results to back it. His experience leading a team at Otto covering all segments of the refuse business, combined with the dedicated focus on one of the more complex sales channels here at BTR, position him perfectly for this new role.”
Smith says his time with BTR and Otto has been “extremely rewarding” and that he’s excited to take on his new role with the “fantastic group” at BTR.
“Our culture focuses largely on the concept of ‘people serving people,’ and that will be a continued focus in this role through our actions both to our customers and our participation throughout the industry,” Smith says. “I am excited to lead such a talented group and thankful to our customers who make it possible.”
Hendrickson says part of his job is “retaining top talent,” adding that he’s grateful for the opportunity to lead refuse sales.
“Pete excels at quantifying the value we create for customers, and I am looking forward to seeing him expand this strategy and execution to the rental side of the business,” BTR President Zach Martin says. “His leadership of the team and our highly targeted sales approach will accelerate rental penetration in the refuse space.”
Voss says Smith is a “natural leader," and Hendrickson agrees with that assessment.
“Scott’s dynamic and approachable personality coupled with his eagerness to develop talent make him a natural fit to lead this new regional-based team of sales professionals,” Hendrickson says. “Put it all together, and we could not be more excited about the runway for Scott and his team.”
