Sweden-based Atlas Copco Construction (ACC) has announced the selection of Documoto software from Englewood, Colorad-based Digabit for its electronic parts catalog and related technical documents. Atlas Copco maintains a large portfolio of products, from compressors, generators and pumps to demolition, road construction and compaction equipment. ACC’s heavy construction products are sold through a dealer and distributor network that spans over 180 countries.
The long service life of ACC’s products means a large after-sale market opportunity, including replacement part sales and maintenance services, the company says. ACC’s vice-president of technical support, Peter Bengtsson, says he wanted to update the capabilities of the company’s customer support operations to capture more revenues and enhance customer loyalty. “Printed books are obsolete the moment they are printed,” says Bengtsson. “We wanted to go to a live environment.”
ACC needed a cloud-based solution, with product updates, technical information, and pricing available to customers in as close to real-time as possible. They were also attracted to Documoto’s web library, where operating instructions, videos and other supporting documentation can be uploaded and viewed by dealers, service personnel, and internal users.
The ultimate decision to engage with Digabit and deploy the Documoto platform was clinched after a demonstration with a core group of Atlas Copco dealers, ACC says. They were impressed by the application’s search functions and its ability to integrate directly into existing dealer websites, making the process of finding and ordering parts quick and easy compared to their previous system.
Atlas Copco was founded in 1873 and is based in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2014, Atlas Copco had revenues of $11.3 billion and more than 44,000 employees. Learn more at www.atlascopco.com.
