An accident that occurred at the American Electric Power Service Corp. Muskingum River power plant in Waterford, Ohio, has claimed the life of demolition industry veteran John Adamo Jr.
Adamo was CEO of the Detroit-based demolition firm Adamo Group and treasurer of the National Demolition Association, Washington.
According to a press release issued by the Morgan County Sherriff’s Office in Ohio, a call was placed to the sheriff’s office for assistance at the job site at 8:28 a.m. Dec. 2. The caller advised that while working to dismantle an old
conveyer belt crossing a river, the housing for the belt line fell and injured two workers.
Several area emergency medical personnel responded to the scene. The injured were transported to a local hospital and the accident scene was secured. According to the press release, an investigation is underway.
Several reports and sources confirmed Adamo’s passing as a result of the accident. Further information will be reported as it becomes available.
