When I first became an editor for Construction & Demolition Recycling (C&DR) magazine, I knew very little about how to recycle loads of mixed construction and demolition (C&D) materials or all the steps that go into the demolition of a structure. Seven years later I am hardly a pro at either, but I have learned so much about these interrelated industries.
It has been my responsibility to help fill the pages of the magazine over the years with topics that will help readers learn about the approach a firm took to take down a bridge or how a recycler reduced the amount of fines coming off of a recycling line. I’ve come to appreciate the challenges that these businesses face and how hard operators and owners work to turn a pile of dirt or debris into something of value. You have taught me so much about what is important to your businesses, including safety, productivity, material purity, throughput and much more, and I hope that I have been able to capture those topics with accuracy.
While I hope to continue to follow these two very important industries, I have accepted a new opportunity in Southern California, and am leaving my position at C&DR.
I have met so many wonderful people during my time as editor of C&DR. Some of them I may have only emailed or talked to on the phone, but I am so appreciative of their willingness to share information. I also have enjoyed attending trade shows, including C&D World and Demolition, and interacting with people in person. I have so many fond memories of my time as editor that I will carry with me for years to come.
Lastly, I thank you for the opportunity to be your editor all these years. Thank you for taking my call, responding to my email and helping me understand what it takes to be successful in your field. I have so much appreciation for all you do and wish you success in the future!
