T he demolition sector showed its resilience in 2023. This year’s list of the Largest Demolition Contractors in North America shows the demolition sector remained strong last year despite persistent inflation, supply chain issues and labor shortages.
The list, based off of demolition-related revenue, is compiled every other year through voluntary submissions from contractors.
For the first time, Construction & Demolition Recycling (C&DR) expanded the scope of the list to include demolition contractors headquartered in Canada, resulting in Priestly Demolition, King, Ontario, and Demolition Plus, Cornwall, Ontario, ranking in the No. 6 and No. 30 spots, respectively.
In all, the top 10 companies on this year’s list generated a combined total of $2.3 billion in revenue, up 92 percent from $1.2 billion in 2021. The 10 companies reporting the highest revenue in 2023 saw an average increase of about 23 percent compared with the 10 largest companies in our 2022 list.
With a 192 percent increase in revenue from 2021 to 2023, AMPCO Contracting Inc., Irvine, California, led the pack in annual revenue gains. Lindamood Demolition, Irving, Texas, followed with a 62 percent increase.
Other companies reporting revenue increases of 30 percent or more include Independence Demolition, Independence, Ohio; Total Wrecking & Environmental LLC, Buffalo, New York; Adamo Group Inc., Detroit; Manafort Bros. Inc., Plainville, Connecticut; Robles 1 LLC, Cibolo, Texas; and East Coast Demolition, Moyock, North Carolina.
New arrivals to the top 40 this year include Integrated Demolition & Remediation, Anaheim, California; AMG Demolition & Environmental Services, San Diego; Trifecta Services Co., Charlotte, North Carolina; The Berg Corp., Baltimore; and Dickson Co., Tacoma, Washington.
Missing anyone?
The editors of C&DR appreciate the demolition industry’s cooperation as we’ve compiled this year’s Largest Demolition Contractors List. We know company officers are busy, so taking the time to return our calls, respond to our emails or fill out our online form is greatly appreciated.
While we’re pleased to have received a strong response to our requests for information, it’s likely that several companies that belong on this list do not appear because they either declined to participate or experienced sizable growth over the last year, and we were unaware that they had earned a spot. If you work for a company that was not included on this year’s list but should have been, please let us know so we can update our readers.
Each time we compile this biannual list, we hope companies will take pride in their employees’ hard work and will want to claim their rightful places on a list created to honor the most successful businesses in the field.
