Tigercat carbonizer
Tigercat Industries, an Ontario-based equipment manufacturer, says its new 6040 carbonizer mobile unit can convert scrap wood into a marketable organic carbon product. The wood reduction and conversion system can accept woody debris, including scrap wood, land clearing debris and logging and agriculture residue. It produces high-quality organic carbon with up to 90 percent material reduction, according to Tigercat, and the resulting product can be left on-site as a soil additive or marketed for other commercial uses. Key features include:
• a machine weight of 83,000 pounds with an extended track frame to improve load distribution
• a modular bolt-on design that allows for ease of service and replacement of components
• an auger trough designed for minimal air leakage, assisting with under-air efficiency
• a hydraulic water supply pump and integrated automatic water level control system

Terex electric shredder
United Kingdom-based Terex Recycling Systems has designed its new TDS-V20SE electric shredder to shred construction and demolition materials as well as scrap wood and yard waste. The medium-speed shredder produces high-spec refuse-derived fuel (RDF), solid recovered fuel (SRF) and biomass products, the company says. Key features include:
• a double-shaft shredding chamber developed by Germany-based Vecoplan AG
• an electric-powered independent hydrostatic drive and product sizing screen designed to enhance the shredder’s performance and operational efficiency
• an optional hopper extension designed for efficient handling of larger volumes and capacity

Komatsu extended-reach excavators
Designed to support work in tough demolition environments, new extended-reach excavators from Chicago-based Komatsu North America are available in the North American market. The machines are built to tackle tough demolition jobs with robust protection elements such as heavy-duty revolving frames and under guards, a bucket cylinder guard, boom light protection guards and reinforced linkage, the company says. Key features include:• a K100 boom change system on the PC490HRD-11 model designed to minimize the time necessary for on-site boom changes
• a reach of up to 104 feet for the PC490 model, with a 45-degree tilting cab for visibility
• a 22 to 26 percent higher reach than standard models with the PC290LC-11, PC360LC-11 and PC490LC-11 straight boom models
• optional quick coupler or demolition attachments to increase versatility
