Volvo Construction Equipment EC230 Electric
Volvo Construction Equipment, with North American headquarters in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, has introduced the EC230 Electric, a 23-ton electric excavator that the company says boasts the same performance as its conventional diesel counterpart. Its features include:
- sixty percent to 70 percent lower energy costs than its diesel-powered equivalent, the EC220E
- charging via 240-volt alternating current or fast-charging direct current setup
- the ability to run for an eight-hour workday with a high-power charge during a lunch break
- low noise, low emissions and low total cost of ownership compared with the EC220E

Serco 8500-SR32 and 8500-SR34 material handlers
The Serco 8500-SR32 and 8500-SR34 material handlers are designed for storm cleanup, the Two Harbors, Minnesota-based company says. The truck-mounted material handlers also can be useful in scrap yards and other waste and recycling environments. Their features include:
- articulating booms offering reaches of 32 feet, 6 inches and 34 feet
- easy access to valves, motors and gearboxes in case maintenance or repairs are necessary
- hydraulic regenerative valves that enable the boom to quickly extend
- low-pressure, smooth hydraulic controls designed to provide precise boom adjustments

Montabert SD Series breakers
SD Series hydraulic rock breakers by Montabert, which has U.S. offices in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, are compact models designed for use with skid steers, backhoes and mini to midsize excavators. Available in eight sizes from the 1,600 PSI SD6 to the 1,815 PSI SD42, the SD Series breakers include:
- fewer wear parts and no tie rods for quick and easy maintenance
- strong, lightweight housings that protect hoses and working parts
- energy chambers that act as hydraulic shock absorbers, reducing pressure variations in the hydraulic circuits and providing consistent energy to the breaker
- internally mounted retaining clips on larger models to change out tools
