Volvo high-reach excavators

With its new EC400 and EC500 High Reach excavators, Volvo Construction Equipment offers optimum visibility for high-reach demolition work. The Swedish equipment company with U.S. headquarters in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, designed the excavators with an automated boom and bucket movements to increase productivity, an extension boom concept for prolonged working range and an optimized structure and hydraulic system to carry heavy attachments.

Key features include:

  • an operating weight of 115,000 to 145,000 pounds
  • a gross power of 339 to 418 horsepower
  • a maximum pin height of 75 feet, 7 inches to 93 feet, 8 inches and a maximum pin reach of 47 feet, 8 inches to 54 feet, 5 inches

Komatsu wheel loader

The newly introduced WA700-8 wheel loader offers enhanced power and efficiency for aggregates producers and other operators with bulk material handling requirements, says Komatsu, a Japan-based global equipment producer. Compared with its predecessor model, the WA700-8 offers up to 8 percent more gross power, 15 percent more torque, a 6 percent increase in lifting force and up to 8 percent more fuel efficiency.

Key features include:

  • a joystick steering system and electronic pilot control levers for precision and ease of operation
  • an available KomVision camera system to provide a comprehensive view of the surroundings
  • a variable traction control system to prevent tire slippage and improve safety in wet or slippery conditions

Tigercat chipper

Designed for high production and maximum flexibility, the new 6500 wood chipper from Ontario-based Tigercat International Inc. is a heavy-duty downswing drum chipper. The chipper’s frame pivots on the undercarriage, allowing operators to adjust the infeed angle for varying feedstocks or to raise and lower the discharge height to adjust the chip pile height.

Key features include:

  • an adjustable rotor speed based on infeed material density and desired chip length
  • transportable on an 18-inch lowboy trailer without having to fold the conveyor to maintain a transport height under 13 feet, 6 inches
  • a hydraulically retractable grate frame for easy inspection, service or impact detection tasks
