NDA announces dates of Foundations of Demolition courses

The courses are part of the association’s Foundations of Demolition Management series that culminates in a Certificate of Demolition Management.


The National Demolition Association (NDA) announced it was holding back-to-back Foundations of Demolition Management courses in November. The Foundations of Demolition Project Management course will be held Nov. 13-14, and the Foundations of Demolition Job Cost Tracking will take place Nov. 15. Both courses will be held at the Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles in Los Angeles.  

The courses are part of the association’s Foundations of Demolition Management series that culminates in a Certificate of Demolition Management. The two other courses in the series are the Foundations of Demolition Estimating and the Foundations of Demolition Risk Management.

Foundations of Demolition Project Management

The Foundations of Demolition Project Management course will take place Nov. 13-14 from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. 

By the end of the course, NDA says attendees will be able to:

• Identify the importance of proper preplanning for a demolition project and effectively execute the preplanning process
• Formulate a project set-up and management process to minimize risk and maximize profitability
• Understand the necessary elements and tasks for success in the implementation phase of a demolition project
• Create systems and controls to successfully manage demolition projects
• Evaluate production versus estimate costs for future project successes with lower risk
• Find areas of weakness in project set-up and learn execution to improve upon these weaknesses

• Integrate lessons learned for future work

Foundations of Demolition Job Cost Tracking

The Foundations of Demolition Job Cost Tracking course will take place Nov. 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

By the end of the course, NDA says attendees will be able to:

• Identify six types of costs on a project
• Define differences between direct and indirect costs
• List three methodologies for cost tracking

• Explain the importance of cost tracking to the lifecycle of the project and the company
