West DuPage Recycling & Transfer Inc. (WDRT) has announced it has been granted certification from the Sacramento, California-based Recycling Certification Institute (RCI). WDRT describes itself as an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency-permitted facility that has been a part of the Hoving Affiliated Cos. since 1999. The facility has achieved a recycling rate of greater than 75 percent since operations began, according to the company.

RCI oversees a national certification program designed to ensure integrity, transparency and accuracy in the recovery and recycling reports of participating C&D recycling facilities. Its evaluation process details the activities conducted in the recycling facility and verifies the recovery results. RCI says it uses a comprehensive process for developing its protocols. Its primary focus is on accurate recycling accounting to ensure that the recovery and recycling reports issued by certified facilities are real, verifiable and reproducible.

This is considered the first RCI certification of a C&D facility in the greater Chicago area and only the seventh facility in the United States to be certified.

Builders using an RCI certified facility are eligible to receive one point toward Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 certification from the U. S. Green Building Council.

WDRT also has announced that after three months of restricted operations (in light of the disassembly and reassembly of the sorting line), it will be moving to a new facility in West Chicago, Illinois. This new facility, which is also permitted by the IEPA, will effectively quadruple the usable area and allow up to 1,250 tons per day of material to be processed.

Other Hoving Affiliated companies include K. Hoving Recycling & Disposal Inc., Hoving Pit Stop Inc., Hoving Clean Sweep LLC and Storage on Site LLC.

National Waste Management Holdings Inc. (NWMH), has announced it has expanded its Hernando, Florida, facility by adding additional office and storage space, as well as processing capacity and upgraded technology.

Louis Paveglio, CEO of NWMH says, “The expansion of our Hernando facility will provide the company additional capacity to support the growing customer demand. We also upgraded our technology to the most advanced systems in the industry, which will help improve operating efficiency and reporting.”

He adds, “We believe these enhancements were necessary to support our organic growth as well as our planned acquisitions. This enhanced infrastructure will allow us to more easily integrate acquisitions and improve operating efficiency of the acquired businesses.”

NWMH describes itself as a vertically integrated solid waste management company with a concentration on C&D collection, hauling and recycling. It services Florida’s west coast and upstate New York.
