Waste Connections and Progressive Waste Solutions complete merger

Waste Connections Inc., The Woodlands, Texas, has completed the merger with Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd., Toronto.

As of the close of trading May 31, 2016, shares of old Waste Connections common stock ceased trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “WCN” and shares of Progressive Waste ceased trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “BIN.”

Effective June 1, 2016, common shares of new Waste Connections stock commenced trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “WCN.” In connection with the completion of the merger, the shares of old Waste Connections common stock were delisted from the New York Stock Exchange and were deregistered under the United States Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

The new Waste Connections has pro forma revenue of approximately $4.1 billion and an integrated network of solid waste operations across North America. The newly combined company serves more than 6 million residential, commercial, industrial and exploration and production customers from a network of operations in 39 states and the District of Columbia, and in six Canadian provinces.

Waste Pro acquires C&D roll-off firm

Longwood, Florida-based Waste Pro has acquired Celebration Demolition Services (CDS) of Davenport, Florida. Through this acquisition, which includes CDS’ contracts and containers, Waste Pro will provide commercial roll-off services to businesses in Greater Polk County, with plans for expansion to surrounding municipalities.

Waste Pro says the acquired facility will deploy three trucks “equipped with high-tech traffic safety equipment to prevent accidents, personal injury and property damage.”

“We are very pleased to be entering the market and providing another option for the businesses and residents of Polk County to receive solid waste and recycling collection services,” says Central Florida Regional Vice President Tim Dolan.

Waste Pro describes itself as one of this country’s fastest growing privately owned waste collection, recycling, processing and disposal companies, operating in nine southeastern states. The firm serves more than 2 million residential and 40,000 commercial customers from more than 75 operating locations and has more than 230 municipal contracts and franchises.

Interior Removal Specialist wins California Assembly award

South Gate, California’s Interior Removal Specialist Inc. (IRS) has been presented with 2016 Small Business of the Year for the 63rd Assembly District of California by California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.

“Companies like Interior Removal Specialist show businesses can be financially successful while also giving back to the communities where they operate,” said Rendon at the award presentation.

IRS specializes in commercial interior renovation and demolition and also runs a mixed construction and demolition (C&D) materials recycling plant.
