Liebherr Introduces Material Handler Training Simulator

Manufacturer says affordability and high quality were key goals in designing one of the first industry simulators.

Liebherr Construction Equipment Co., Newport News, Va., has introduced a Material Handler Training Simulator. The company says it partnered with Simlog based in Montreal to develop the industry’s first affordable, high quality training simulator.

According to Liebherr, the simulator depicts the operation of a Liebherr wheeled material handler in a realistic environment performing scrap handling activities.

“Training simulators have come from costly show pieces to more affordable and practical applications in everyday operator training,” observes Mark Rangos, general manager, product support for Liebherr Construction Equipment Co.

The company says the new simulator provides multiple operating scenarios and measures the performance of the trainee during his/her training session. It is available in basic and advanced versions: The basic version uses a tabletop steering wheel, foot pedals and Liebherr-type joysticks; while the advanced version adds an operator seat and industrial steering wheel. Both versions can be used on a mid-range laptop or desktop computer.
