Sandvik shares commitment to customers, dealers following Allied acquisition

Sandvik, Stockholm, says longtime distributors and end users of Allied Construction Products’ breakers and compactors can expect the same quality products and level of service that they enjoyed prior to Sandvik’s acquisition of the Cleveland-based company on Oct. 1, 2020.

“We are going to continue to do right what Allied has done right for many years,” says Jonas Lindqvist, who was named managing director of the company that is being renamed Sandvik. “That includes striving towards providing impeccable service to our dealers and customers and continuing to examine current and better ways to produce, deliver and support our quality products.”

Sandvik already owned 21 percent of Allied, the North American distributor for Sandvik’s Rammer hydraulic breakers, before the acquisition was completed. Soon afterward, Lindqvist was named to the company’s top management position.

“Later this year,” Jonas says, “we will expand our Rammer product lines beyond hydraulic breakers and compactors in North America. We intend to be a full provider of excellent attachment tools.”

Jonas adds that Sandvik’s decision to acquire Allied was heavily influenced by its employees and robust history of quality that dates back to 1942. Also influencing the decision was Allied’s operational footprint and its collection of distributors.

Scott Scholz, a district manager in the Northeast U.S. and eastern Canada for Sandvik, adds, “Our distributors and rental companies look forward to the future because they know Sandvik is taking all the positive things we do, and they are supporting us and enabling us to grow.”

Demetrius Smith, a supervisor and 15-year Allied employee, says he has heard “nothing but positive responses” to new ownership. “Hardly anything has changed … we continue to be proud of our highly efficient shipping and assembly processes, and we look forward to the future with support from Sandvik.”

At some point, the company will be relocating from its downtown Cleveland location to a facility in the same region that will provide more space for warehousing, service and manufacturing, according to Jonas. “We’re not planning any changes internally, but as we grow, we will be adding employees to maintain efficiencies in our operations and manufacturing.”

“The Cleveland-based operation will support all of North America, including both Allied and Sandvik customers,” Jonas says.

As part of this commitment, the company formerly known as Allied will undergo a rebranding during 2021 where the company name will be formally changed to Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions North America and all products will be marketed under the Rammer brand name.

Genesis Attachments’ Frahm enters NDA Hall of Fame

Curt Frahm, the co-founder of Superior, Wisconsin-based Genesis Attachments, has been honored with induction into the National Demolition Association (NDA) Hall of Fame.

Inducted during the recent 2021 NDA virtual convention, Frahm was recognized as an industry leader whose commitment, ingenuity and devotion has significantly impacted the demolition industry, according to Genesis Attachments.

Frahm also was credited for contributing to the fast start of Genesis and for helping to build the company “into a world-class, industry leader of attachments,” the firm says.

After founding Genesis in 1997, Frahm spent 17 years with the company, serving as a regional sales manager and retiring in 2014.

Genesis Attachments is now part of Japan-based NPK Construction Equipment (NPKCE). Genesis designs and makes shears, grapples, concrete processors and specialty attachments for the scrap processing, demolition, material handling and offshore decommissioning industries.

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas adds western region sales manager

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas Inc., Norcross, Georgia, announced April 5 that Matt Brown has been hired as district sales manager of the company’s western U.S. region. In this position, he will be responsible for assisting Hyundai dealers across the territory.

Brown joins Hyundai Construction Equipment with more than 11 years of varied territory sales experience, most recently working as a regional sales manager for another construction original equipment manufacturer.

Originally from Calhoun, Georgia, Brown currently resides in Dallas.

“We are excited to welcome Matt on board with us at Hyundai. Matt’s customer focus and sales management skills will make him a significant asset to support our western district dealers and their customers,” says Mike Ross, vice president of construction equipment sales, Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas.

Company Wrench opens new branch in Indianapolis

Company Wrench, Carroll, Ohio, has opened a new branch in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis branch will offer new and used equipment for sale and lease to the general construction, demolition, scrap and recycling markets.

According to the company, the branch also will be equipped with full parts and service departments capable of assisting customers with multiple product lines.

“We are overjoyed to return to the great state of Indiana,” Company Wrench President Cam Gabbard says. “Indianapolis is a remarkable city that continues to expand. Our customers in this market will now have access to superior equipment and unmatched customer service and support.”

In addition to Indiana, Company Wrench has branches in Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Company Wrench represents a number of manufacturers, including JCB, Kobelco, Fuchs and LaBounty.
