Genesis Attachments Announces Leadership Change
Genesis Attachments, Superior, Wis., has announced the pending departure of General Manager Bruce Bacon and the appointment of Mats Ceder to that position. Bacon, one of the company’s co-founders, will stay on for a period of time to ensure a smooth transition before leaving to start a new, non-competing company."This is a bittersweet time for me," says Bacon. "In the last 11 years, I’ve seen this company grow from a startup with a half dozen employees to an industry leader employing more than 150. In that same time frame, I’ve cultivated relationships with customers which have turned into genuine friendships. I have truly enjoyed the industries Genesis serves and will still be working within them with my new company. My commitment to keeping the Genesis brand one of the most respected in the industry has never wavered, and I leave confidant in the knowledge that Mats Ceder shares that commitment."
Ceder, whose appointment became official Jan. 1, 2009, joined Paladin, Genesis’ parent company, in early 2008 as director of business development in Paladin’s Heavy Construction Division. Prior to joining the company, he held sales and marketing positions with motion control manufacturer Parker Hannifin and hydraulics specialist Rexroth. In those positions, Ceder held leadership roles in sales, marketing and general management, as well as tackling operational assignments.
"This is an outstanding opportunity for me, and I welcome the challenge," he says. "Given the current state of the scrap recycling and construction markets, these are some of the most challenging times our customers have seen in a long time. Fortunately, we manufacture the kind of products that can help them maximize their potential—and their bottom line—and I’m excited to be able to play a key role in helping make that happen."
Ceder received a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering in Sweden, where he began his career before moving to the United States more than 15 years ago.
Genesis Attachments is a leading manufacturer of excavator attachments for use in the demolition, scrap processing and material handling industries.

Chicago Pneumatic Introduces Power Packs
Chicago Pneumatic Construction Tools, Westfield, Mass., has introduced a line of hydraulic power packs designed for a range of hydraulic handheld tools for demolition, building renovation, utility work and road and bridge maintenance applications. The power packs are built with large wheels for maneuverability, allowing hydraulic tools to be used in confined spaces. The compact size, 27.6 inches wide, 28.3 inches long, and 29.3 inches tall for the largest unit, allows them to be positioned almost anywhere on a jobsite. The packs also have service weights ranging from 143 to 256 pounds.
Four power packs are available, including the PAC P9 and PAC P13, equipped with 9-horsepower and 13-horsepower Honda gasoline engines, respectively, feature a power-on-demand (POD) system. POD increases the engine speed only when a tool is being used, thereby reducing fuel consumption and extending equipment service life, the company says. Another gas-powered unit, the PAC P18, features an 18-horsepower Briggs & Stratton Vanguard engine and electric start.
For poorly ventilated areas or applications where diesel is preferred, Chicago Pneumatic offers the PAC D10. This model is designed with a reinforced chassis to accept the higher vibrations and load from its 10-horsepower Lombardini diesel engine.
Each power pack’s internal components are protected by a stainless steel frame. Power packlongevity is also aided by a thermostatically-controlled oil cooler and an integrated fan.
The power packs are all equipped with a filter condition gauge, which indicates when the return line filter needs replacement.

Eriez Introduces New Eddy Current Metal Separators
Eriez, Erie, Pa., has introduced its newest eddy current separator, which removes nonferrous metallic particles from plastics, glass cullet, electronic scrap, automobile shredder residue (ASR), boiler bottom ash, spent foundry core sand, municipal solid waste (MSW), commingled recyclables, urban wood debris and mixed metals, the company says.Eriez eddy current nonferrous metal separator systems feature improved permanent magnetic circuits with Rare Earth Erium 3000, which is more than five-times stronger than conventional magnets, according to the company.
