Air One Inc. to Offer Monsoon Dust Suppression Equipment
Air One Inc., Wareham, Mass., has announced that it has been named a Northeast dealer for the Monsoon line of dust suppression and odor control systems. The company will sell these systems throughout the United States to demolition contractors, transfer stations, construction sites, landfills, quarries and remedial sites.
The Monsoon moves water or other fluid through a gyratory atomizing nozzle, which expels the solution from a rotating hub, resulting in a high speed impact that pulverizes the fluid into a uniform spectrum of droplets. The droplets mix with a highly turbulent airflow generated by a 14-inch single-stage turbine and are then projected into the air where they will begin collecting and trapping airborne dust and odor.
Air One Inc. offers the Monsoon in seven different sizes and configurations, including the Monsoon CKB3 featuring a 23-hp Kohler engine, a wireless nozzle and throttle control delivered with a skid mount or trailer package; the Monsoon2 featuring a twin turbine design, a 40-hp Kohler engine, wireless nozzle and throttle control, independently controlled nozzles and 20,000 CFM at 175 mph; Monsoon 8000 with a Honda or Kohler engine, remote 3600 nozzle control, pull start; and the Monsoon Hydraulic with a hydraulic motor drive. Owners can choose from gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, PTO and electric driven models.

Allied-Gator Making Major Commitments
Allied-Gator Inc., Youngstown, Ohio, has been changing the landscape along a span of the Mahoning River as it prepares to move into its new manufacturing complex.
According to Mike Ramun, the company’s sales and marketing manager, the size and scope of Allied-Gator’s expansion is difficult to appreciate without visiting the project site.
The maker of hydraulic material processing tools and equipment is moving its manufacturing operations from a crowded 12,000-square-foot facility to a massive new structure that will contain more than 475,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
"Our mission is to increase the capabilities and efficiencies of the industries we serve by offering innovative and technically superior product designs," says Ramun.
This extra-heavy-duty complex that will span more than 11.5 acres under one roof has been designed to provide Allied-Gator employees with a work environment containing the most technologically advanced machine tooling and manufacturing equipment available, according to Ramun.
"We’re striving toward uninterrupted manufacturing," he says of the processes being put in place for the company to make its MT Series™ Multi-Tool line, as well upcoming, never-before-seen tools and equipment that focuses on the recycling and demolition industries.
Allied-Gator will draw upon geothermal heating and cooling sources throughout its new facility and is installing 22 overhead cranes ranging from 10- to 120-ton capacities as it undergoes the major expansion in a project that is being managed and constructed entirely in-house. As Allied-Gator President John Ramun points out, "We’re not just interested in manufacturing innovative products—we are committed."
The company has also invested in brand new, state-of-the-art machining, measuring, inspection and fabrication equipment that will allow it to meet its exacting manufacturing standards and tolerances, says Mike Ramun. These investments will add new dimensions to Allied-Gator’s unique manufacturing techniques and processes while drastically accelerating production rates and substantially increasing product volume.
Allied-Gator’s transition to the new facility will begin in 2009 in what it calls "Area A" of the plant. This area includes warehouse, assembly, machining and heavy machining bay space. The company will then occupy "Area B," which will house space for fabrication/heavy fabrication, plate burning, heavy equipment modification and detailing bays.
Terex Launches Dedicated Compact Equipment Line
Terex Construction has introduced a dedicated compact equipment line, distributed throughout North America. The compact equipment line includes both Terex-branded compact track loaders, featuring the ASV patented Posi-Track undercarriage technology, and a broad portfolio of offerings from Terex, including compact excavators, compact wheel loaders, site dumpers, tractor loader backhoes, light towers, telehandlers, power buggies and tandem asphalt rollers. The compact equipment line will focus exclusively on the needs of this key market segment, according to a press release from Terex.
With more than 45 product models, Terex says its compact equipment line offers one of the widest ranges of compact equipment available from a single manufacturer, giving contractors numerous options for their equipment investment. In addition, Terex parts and service, as well as Terex financial services, are available to customers who purchase Terex equipment. Terex Financial Services offers a range of financing and leasing solutions.
Effective Jan. 1, 2009, all current ASV products will also be branded "Terex" and will join the North American Terex compact equipment line.
"We are committed to giving compact equipment owners more equipment choices, better product features and greater reliability, as well as the best service before and after the purchase," says Del Carver, area director, Terex North America Compact Equipment. "Contractors are demanding more for their money from both their dealer and their manufacturer, and we plan to give them what they want."
A-Ward Attachments Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony
Representatives from A-Ward Attachments, headquartered in New Zealand, held a groundbreaking ceremony in Savannah, Ga., to showcase the company’s first manufacturing operation in the United States. The new facility, to be operated by Savannah Global Inc., will mark the first time A-Ward Attachments has opened a manufacturing plant in the Americas.
The groundbreaking was held Nov. 20. Marcel Dunant, GM of A-Ward Attachments Ltd., the Americas, notes that having the facility located only two miles from the Savannah port will give the company an ideal position to get its products to customers quickly. Along with the equipment, the company will have a parts center and warehouse.
Dunant estimates that with the new manufacturing site located so close to the Savannah port the company can shave almost one month off the delivery time for the equipment. Equipment to be manufactured at the site includes containers and container tilters. One of the products that will be manufactured at the site is the 20/40 Combination Container Tilter.
The new Savannah location is located on 15 acres, with the opportunity to expand the manufacturing operations; a warehouse is only minutes away from the site. The facility has 20 employees, although that number is expected to increase as demand grows.
Dunant notes that while the facility will serve markets throughout the world, a key growth area will be in the Americas, including North, Central and South America. Reflecting these growth opportunities, the company, which has a dealer network in North America and Mexico, has entered into discussions with a Brazilian company, Saur, about becoming a dealer for A-Ward’s equipment throughout South America.
As for the demand for the finished product, Dunant says that the company is seeking a lot of interest in its product line, which can be marketed to any producer of bulk materials, including scrap metal.
