Controlled Demolition Inc. (CDI), Phoenix, Maryland, performed the preparation for, and explosives felling of, three 350-foot-tall reinforced concrete chimneys at the now-closed Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset, Massachusetts, March 24.
CDI acted as the explosive subcontractor to Brayton Point LLC, St. Louis, Missouri, who is serving as the main demolition contractor on the project.
The successful implosion sets the stage for the planned demolition of the plant’s cooling towers April 27.
