Carmeuse Americas, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of lime, limestone and mineral-based products, has announced its acquisition of Schlegel Sand and Gravel from owners Mark and Matt Schlegel. Located in Lansing, Michigan, Schlegel Sand and Gravel services the Michigan construction market.
“By acquiring Schlegel Sand and Gravel, Carmeuse expands its geographical reach within the state of Michigan,” says Yves Willems, president and CEO of Carmeuse. “In addition, the high-quality products sold by Schlegel Sand and Gravel complement the construction aggregates sold from our quarries on the Great Lakes.”
Founded in 1964, Schlegel Sand and Gravel has been a notable supplier of aggregate materials, such as sand, gravel, topsoil and stone for both commercial and residential use in the greater Lansing area. As one of the first in the state to have a permanent recycling facility, Schlegel Sand and Gravel has distinguished itself as a high-quality recycler and seller of crushed asphalt and concrete.
Jack Fahler, chief operating officer of Carmeuse, says, “Acquiring Schlegel Sand and Gravel is a well-managed company with a strong customer base.”
“We are pleased to close this transaction with Carmeuse. It is a good deal for both parties,” Mark Schlegel says.
