NDA partners with US Army Corps of Engineers

The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Alabama, is collaborating with the National Demolition Association (NDA) to advance best practices for the demolition industry. Through a news release, the groups say the partnership will be mutually beneficial and will have “a significant impact on the safety and well-being of workers in the demolition industry and the successful completion of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects.”

Under the agreement, the partnership will give the USACE access to NDA education and training programs and provide companies and workers the skills and knowledge necessary to mitigate risk and enhance opportunities for success. The partnership also benefits Huntsville Center’s Facility Reduction Program by providing a “pool of safe, reliable, best-in-class demolition contractors to bid on [opportunities] to service USACE projects,” the release says.

The Huntsville Center’s Facilities Reduction Program is working to: eliminate excess facilities and structures to reduce government energy and maintenance costs; eliminate safety hazards, nuisances and unsightly structures; and free up valuable real estate for future development.

Additionally, under the agreement, NDA members can benefit from USACE training.

Access to risk management best practices and resources through USACE will also give NDA members the tools to offer safe and reliable demolition support.

The Huntsville Center’s Facility Reduction Program and NDA will host each organization’s industry experts at events and conferences and will facilitate training and education for USACE contractors. The two organizations will collaborate to assess, contribute to and utilize recommendations in the continual development and promotion of the Foundations of Demolition Management Series in capability/capacity assessments and referral in the Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) process.
