Unified Screening &
Crushing Chief Operating Officer
1. Can I mix and match screen media?
When helping customers with screen media selections, we look at features like material size, weight and abrasiveness. Other types of screen media used alone or blended with woven wire cloth or self-cleaning screens can provide the ultimate combination of wear life and open area. The difference between using a single type of screen media versus the optimal blend of screen media can add up to thousands of dollars in downtime and expense every year.
2. How do screen media choices affect application choices?
We encourage customers who are focusing on the reduction side of material when considering products they will sell to also consider how materials are sorted, moved on to the next crushing stage or sent to the final product through screening. The better your screening, the less unnecessary crushing you need. You will decrease the power usage on your crusher and conveyors, as well, reducing wear, downtime and overall plant costs.
3. What is one pro tip you can pass along to customers?
Preventative maintenance on every element of your rock plant can extend the life of your screen media and other wear parts. Problem areas like broken wires, acute wear areas, pegging or blinding can signal carryover or contamination, which then results in unwanted material in the screened material pile, adding to the cost of rescreening.
Checking channel rubber when installing screens is key. Worn out channel rubber or improper screen tensioning can decrease the life of screens and increase expenses. Don’t forget: Channel rubber wears on both the outside and the inside. Proper installation of screens and channel rubber helps to maximize production and decrease maintenance.

4. What can I expect from Unified wear parts?
Whether you are fixed or mobile, “plant productivity” relies on consistency. You want the next set of wear parts to last as long as the last set. What sets Unified manganese apart from other suppliers? Unified products are inspected four to five times during the actual manufacturing process. Everything from the heating of the material to the pouring temperatures to the cooling and quenching process are closely monitored. You can count on Unified for wear parts and service that not only improve performance but help extend the lifetime of your wear part and your crusher.
5. Is it still important to manufacture here in the U.S.?
Unified is proud to be a family-owned, American manufacturer of screening and sizing media. Domestic weaving and a regional presence at our 14 facilities across the U.S. allow us to offer the best service and on-site expertise for all Unified products. It also makes it possible to provide 24-hour delivery of products on our stock list and fast delivery on custom orders. In addition to manufacturing hundreds of thousands of wire, urethane and rubber screen media products, Unified maintains one of the largest inventories of crusher wear parts. We believe family-owned is important in our industry, as well as manufacturing in the U.S.
